Sacred Geometry - The Symbolism of Mandala Shapes
Beyond the circle and the center, mandalas are built from recurring geometric shapes, each carrying its own symbolism.

The Triangle
Triangles often represent transformation and direction.
Upward-facing triangles symbolize aspiration and energy.
Downward-facing triangles symbolize grounding and receptivity.
When layered within a mandala, triangles create movement and dynamic balance.
The Square
Squares symbolize stability and foundation. In many sacred diagrams, a square represents structure, the material world supporting spiritual growth.
The Lotus
The lotus flower is one of the most recognized motifs in mandala art. Deeply rooted in traditions such as Buddhism, the lotus symbolizes:
Purity
Rebirth
Spiritual awakening
Growing from mud yet blooming beautifully, the lotus reminds us that growth can emerge from challenge.
Repetition and Symmetry
Repetition creates rhythm. Symmetry creates harmony.
Together, they produce a visual language that feels balanced and restorative.
In my own mandala practice, geometry is not rigid, it is expressive. Structure becomes the framework that allows intuition to flow freely.
